Thank you for your interest in the
Quilters' Guild of Brooklyn (QGB).
Guild Contacts

Meetings

Founded in 1993 to encourage, support and promote the art of quilting, the QGB provides a forum for local quilters to exchange information and ideas and to share their enthusiasm for the craft. Our members represent all ages and levels of quilting experience; advanced as well as beginning quilters find camaraderie and inspiration at guild meetings.

Annual membership dues are $25 (September - June). At the monthly meetings, members show finished quilts and works in progress, hold a small raffle of quilt-related items, and shop for quilting supplies at the invited vendor's table. Lectures and workshops are scheduled throughout the year. The guild newsletter, Brooklyn Bee, published monthly September through June, provides guild news and Block-of-the-month instructions, as well as notices of shows and exhibitions, occasional book reviews and other articles of interest to quilters. Members participate in guild-sponsored special events, such as the guild retreat and bus trips to quilt shows, and also enjoy discounts at many local quilt shops.

QGB members put their quilting skills to use to support community efforts to help those in need. Some of the recipients have been the Brooklyn Child Advocacy Center, branches of the Brooklyn Public Library, a women's shelter, and hundreds of at-risk babies who have received member-made quilts through the ABC Quilts Project.

QGB Sunday Bees take place at the Marien-Heim Senior Center, usually on the fourth Sunday of the month. In an informal environment, members can work individually or together on their own or community service projects while sharing techniques and advice. The large tables are perfect for basting quilts. Stop by anytime between 10 AM and 4 PM; bring something to work on and your lunch or snack and stay for the day.

We hope this letter answers some of your questions about the Quilters' Guild of Brooklyn. If you have additional questions, please contact the guild at the address above or attend one of our meetings. Non-members are asked to pay a $3 guest fee that can be applied to the membership fee if they decide to join. Please call our guild phone to confirm the date and location of the meeting for that month.
