Over Fifty members stayed for the annual January Lenni Abel Memorial Workshop featuring Anita Grossman Solomon. We learned how to create the traditional Jewel Block using Anita’s very modern, fast, and fun method. The blocks were made using her pattern and technique with fabric provided by the Michael Miller Company. All the completed blocks are going to Project Dovetail, which is making quilts for survivors of the recent hurricanes. See more here.
This year's challenge was to design a 20" square based on the theme of "Prospect Park" which is celebrating its 150th anniversary.
The show opened Tuesday, Nov. 7 with a reception and discussion with the quilters and continues until Jan. 2, 2018. The Gerritsen Beach Library is located at 2808 Gerritsen Avenue (between Gotham Ave. and Bartlett Place). Click here for directions and opening hours.

We are very excited to announce that our next quilt show, scheduled for April 14-15, 2018, will be held in Industry City, a huge complex of shops, small businesses, and restaurants located on the Brooklyn waterfront in Sunset Park (36th Street and Third Avenue). We will be in an area called the Factory Floor on the ground floor next to an outdoor terrace and many nearby restaurants. This will be a much larger space than we had for our previous show in downtown Brooklyn, but still easy to get to. There are three subway lines, several bus routes and ample parking.
